Welcome to the online Application for the
Christian Leadership Scholarship (CLS).
This scholarship is set aside for new DBU students who exhibit exceptional Christian character and leadership abilities, as well as proven academic skills. We are looking for students who have given their lives to serving God and other people.
NOTE: Before you will be considered for this scholarship, you must be admitted to Dallas Baptist University. Click here for admissions information. It is recommended that you begin the process for scholarship application simultaneously with the admission process.
This form will walk you through the CLS application process, which will require about 6 minutes to complete.
You must be a traditional-age student to apply for this scholarship.
Students who wish to apply for this scholarship
must submit the DBU Scholarship application
along with:
- Two recommendations, one from each of the categories listed below (excluding relatives). Recommenders must use DBU CLS Recommendation Forms. Referral letters will not be accepted. It is the applicant’s responsibility to confirm that
recommendation forms are received by the Office of
Undergraduate Admissions.
A. A teacher, principal, or school counselor
B. A pastor or youth minister at the church you attend
- A scholarship interview (The student must contact an
admissions counselor in the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions to arrange an interview.)
- A DBU application for admission including:
A. An official high school transcript verifying class
rank.
B. An official SAT or ACT score.
C. Official transcripts from ALL previously
attended colleges.
DBU requires each student applying for a scholarship to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA), the DBU Supplemental Application for Financial Aid, and accompanying documents before disbursement of
the scholarship award.
DBU renews the scholarship on a year-by-year basis for a maximum of five years, as you meet the renewal requirements. The
scholarship is valid for up to, but not exceeding, the required undergraduate hours of college credit for degree completion.
The Christian Leadership Scholarship is a monetary award that shall be applied toward undergraduate, non-online tuition only. This scholarship is a need/merit-based scholarship designed only for new, incoming students. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of academic ability, demonstrated Christian leadership, and need. The scholarship committee will evaluate each candidate on the basis of his or her total qualifications.
To remain in good standing for the scholarship, the
student is required to:
1. Enroll in and successfully complete the DBU Christian
Leadership course during their first year.
2. Enroll for a minimum of 12 hours per long semester.
3. During the first few weeks of each semester, declare an
area of ministry for that semester. (Online Forms will be
provided.)
4. Be involved (for at least six hours per month) in a
volunteer service or ministry activity.
5. Complete and submit all Ministry Journal
requirements each month.
6. Complete ALL financial aid forms each year.
a. The DBU Financial Aid Form.
b. The FAFSA Financial Aid Form.
7.Live in the DBU residence halls or a DBU apartment
complex. Any unauthorized departure from the DBU
residence halls or DBU apartment complex (including
marriage) will constitute forfeiture of all Christian
Leadership Scholarship funds.
8. Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
9. Take all general studies classes during the day prior to
5:00 p.m.
10. Maintain moral and ethical standards that would be
exemplary of the life of Christ.
Failure to adhere to requirements will result
in forfeiture of scholarships.
